About Nordic Light

In addition to organizing Nordic Light International Festival of Photography each year, we have a lot of other projects going on here at Nordic Light through the whole year. We have a gallery with several exhibitions every year and we have a house that where we have several co-workers and host different events,  in addition to a variety of other big and small projects.

nordic light house

Our Nordic Light House does more than just being the festival hub during the festival week. Here we have a co-working space, art and book shop, a café where we host different kinds of events. We also offer space for rent for events and different organizations like the camera club.

In our first floor gallery "The Bakery", which is also one of our festival galleries, we have a variety of photographic exhibitions throughout the year. In our Art Shop we also host a series with exhibitions for young aspiring local artists working with all kinds of art disciplines.

ongoing Projects

At all times we have different projects going on here at Nordic Light. Below is a small summary of some of the projects that we are currently working on.

Artist in residence

In December 2016 Nordic Light started a Photography Artist Residency.  The residency project will span over two years and we Nordic Light will host six different artists during the period. The project is done with support from Møre og Romsdal Fylkeskommune (The County). The residency is now open for applications for the first two residency periods.

Fotobyen Kristiansund // The Photo City Kristiansund

Developing the city. More information will be published as we are progressing with the project.

PHEN (Photo Europe Network)

In collaboration with other European Photo Festivals we are part of the network PHEN. This network is aiming to be a network where the members can share knowledge (about how to do audience development, the practicalities of running such festivals etc.) and hopefully by time artistic content such as exhibitions and lectures.

The network is currently in the process of applying for support through Creative Europe.

This project is a collaboration between Scandinavian photo festival. The collaboration is aiming to create development and career opportunities for young photographers. We aim to do this through a system of activities which build upon meetings and exchange between the participating festivals.
