Government support for the Nordic Light

It´s a great pleasure to announce that Nordic Light International Festival of Photography will receive financial support from the government from 2011.
This means we can continue to develop the festival and to work towards the goal of becoming one of the main venues for photography in Europe, says Director of Nordic Light International Festival of Photography Anne Flavik. It is a recognition of all who work with photography in Norway and that will strengthen Norwegian photography internationally.
Besides the festival, we are working on building up a workshop center that will operate mainly in the autumn. We offer analog darkroom workshops, portrait photography, nature photography and much more. In addition some special workshops will be held, such as the Sea Eagle Photography workshop on the little island of Smøla.
To be awarded a state amount of NOK 500 000 commits the municipality and county to contribute about a further NOK 200 000. This will provide the festival a predictable financial basis from 2011. Flavik emphasizes that they still need more to make ends meet and that it is absolutely necessary to preserve the old, and find new major supporters locally and nationally. We book several of the largest photographers internationally and nationally, set up a long series of exhibitions, lectures and other events, and not least, we build a unique network between photo community of Norway and the rest of the world. It's great fun, educational and exciting, but not without great costs.
Flavik applaud all local and national politicians and other incentives that have worked for this to happen.
It is an indescribable joy to be accepted. Kristiansund is absolutely perfect for this event, says a proud Director Anne Flavik.
