Kristin Nekstad was appointed the job on the 11th August and will initially function as acting Managing Director until 31st May 2016.

"I care deeply for Nordic Light. The combination of the festival, the photographs, the people, the lectures and the fact that it is located in Kristiansund makes the frame perfect. It is then our job to manage this in a good way and make sure the picture in the frame can be seen by everyone," says Nekstad.

Nekstad has worked for the festival for several years. She began as a secretary in 2011 and was promoted to Event Manager in 2013. During these past years she has been a central force in making the festival happen. As new Managing Director her ambitions for the future of the Nordic Light Festival are big.

"Nordic Light has been a cultural institution both in Norway and in Europe, and will remain so in the future. Culture builds bridges and give common values, and one ambition is to be able to fill more public spaces with photography. Nationally, we will seek to establish more partnerships and we will also be looking towards younger Norwegian photographers. We will keep focussing on subjects that engage, and promote photography as an artform. At the same time, our eyes will be directed outwards, in the search for creative partnerships and networks internationally."

The next edition of Nordic Light International Festival of Photography will be taking place 26th-30th April 2016.
