Ten young, Nordic photography students or recent graduates have been selected to come to Kristiansund in Norway in April. The stay includes a three-day photography workshop and participation at the Nordic Light International Festival of Photography.
The Nordic Collaboration includes the Nordic Light festival in Kristiansund, Landskrona Foto Festival in Sweden and Backlight Photo Festival in Tampere in Finland, as well as the photo art magazine KATALOG – Journal of Photography & Video.
For the workshop, the network was looking for two participants from each of the Nordic countries, totally ten.
– We congratulate all the winners and look forward to welcoming the young and emerging photographers to Kristiansund in April for a lifetime memory, says Ingunn Strand, Festival Manager at Nordic Light Events.
The jury consisted of representatives from the Nordic Collaboration network.
The workshop, titled “Photographing the Home” will be conducted by Clare Gallagher, who is course director for BA (Hons) Photography with Video at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University. Her work examines the ordinary and everyday, focusing on experiences of home. It has been exhibited in Europe, North America and Asia and been featured in The Guardian, Lenscratch and Source Photographic Review.
The workshop will result in a curated exhibition at Nykyaika Photographic centre in Tampere autumn 2018 or at another collaborational festival. The exhibition will be curated by an emerging curator from the Backlight Festival.
