The County Director of Culture opened the Opera Festival Exhibition
The Director of Culture in Møre og Romsdal, Heidi-Iren Wedlog Olsen, conducted the official opening of this year's Opera Festival Exhibition at the Nordic Light Art Gallery in Kristiansund. The exhibition, which runs until February 20, shows photographs by the young, Portuguese photographer Inês Marinho, who has been an Artist in Residence at Nordic Light since mid-January.
During her stay in Kristiansund, Marinho has worked on a local photo project, "From my home to yours", where she has been walking routes in Kristiansund, similar to those she walked in her childhood and youth in Portugal. On her way, she has photographed everything from trees and fishing boats to empty playgrounds and footsteps in the snow. The photos have a distinctive expression, many of them were shot with a Polaroid camera.
– It's so good to see the result of Inês' work here in Kristiansund. She's been producing the complete exhibition in only two weeks! During the rest of her stay, she'll be conducting several workshops, both for the camera club in Kristiansund and the Atlanterhavsveien Photo Club. It's nice that the local community takes the opportunity to interact with her, says Ingunn Strand, manager at Nordic Light Events.
She tells that the application period for the next Artist in Residence-stay at Nordic Light, scheduled for August/September 2018, will be opning soon. The project is supported by Møre and Romsdal county.
During the opening, we also received a musical feature by vocalist Mari Jystad Halse, also known as "CALI", and guitarist Øyvind Glåmen. The youngsters from Halsa attend the 3rd year of the music line at the Atlantic High School in Kristiansund, have been well visible on the city's music scene and have ambitions about living of their music in the future.
The exhibition is open Tuesdays and Thursdays until February 20, as well as on request. For more information, go to www.nle.no/gallery/.
