Simone got the internship at Nordic Light
Right over Easter, Simone Magaard arrives in Kristiansund to experience Nordic Light from the inside. She drew the longest straw in becoming a curatorial intern during this year's photo festival.
As an intern, Simone will be an important contributor in the planning/curating of this year's festival exhibition, as well as assisting with festival planning and implementation of the festival end of April. With a strong background in dissemination, she will also have a role in our galleries during the festival. Her stay will be around five weeks long.
Simone Magaard (born 1989) was born in Copenhagen and residing in Helsingborg, Sweden. She works mainly as an educator at Landskrona Museum and during the Landskrona Photo Festival. She is also a photographer and part of a photo collective for analog photography in German Heidelberg. The group is called Kalamari Klub.
I discovered the photo nine years old when I got my first camera. It was a simple model and now I could take my own pictures. Photography for me today is like collecting, a kind of documentation. Sometimes straight forward, sometimes more like an art form. The photos collected on my film rolls are now more about structures or lightning. It's more and more often about bathing, water or something in nature, says Simone.
We congratulate Simone on the assignment and welcome her to Kristiansund in April!
