Parade

Nordic Light kicks off with a festival parade and an opening show. The parade starts at "Kunstforeningen", the gallery of the local art society. The festival management guides you through the different exhibition locations, ending up at the Caroline cinema centre, where all lectures will be held the coming days. The opening show, including the official opening of the festival, is free and open to all.

Lectures

This is the main activity of our program and something that we are very proud to present to our visitors. Exciting lectures by world renowned photographers, as well as the young talents – the ones you really should keep an eye on. The lectures are mostly not filled with technical details, but with first class storytelling! See world-class images and hear the story behind. Lean back, listen, learn, get inspired and gain new impulses.

exhibitions

Inspiring exhibitions by almost all our guest photographers of the year. Many of these photographs are rarely exhibited like this, and seldom in Norway. This is a unique opportunity to see – and buy – works from world renowned photographers in Norway and Kristiansund!

Breakfast movie

This morning activity is free of charge and open to all. Since the first festival, our creative leader Morten Krogvold has given our audience an inspirational boost each morning with movie screenings before the first lecture of the day. Krogvold picks the movies, sometimes not until he enters the room. The variation is big; from documentaries and short-films to the classics. All movies are either in English or with English sub titles.

Gallery Talks

At a selection of our exhibitions we give you the opportunity to meet the artist in the gallery and take part in a guided tour around his or hers exhibition. A unique experience where you can get information directly from the photographer and ask questions about the exhibited works.

Meet & Greet

Our festival café and pub, Krogvold Café, is located in the Nordic Light House and is open throughout the day and night. ere, the old ones and the young ones, the beginners and the legends, and everyone else who cares for meeting new people, and people with interest for photography, art and culture, meet up. Take part in the discussion and listen to exciting stories from the people who have lived them. Enjoy a light lunch, something to drink or just an in-between snack.

Talk Show

Every evening from Thursday to Saturday our creative leader Morten Krogvold is hosting the talkshow "Ansikt til Ansikt" (translates to "Face to Face") in Caroline cinema centre. Krogvold leads a close and personal conversation with well known personalities about the society, art and culture – and about life itself. The talkshow is mainly in Norwegian. Previous guests have been: Ole Gunnar Solskjær (football player), Jimmy Nelson (photographer), Geir Lippestad (lawyer) and Per Fugelli (physician and professor of medicine).
