Twelve lucky participants have the unique opportunity to be part of a 5-days exclusive workshop with world famous portrait photographer Greg Gorman in Kristiansund October 14-18, 2015. His iconic photos of the Hollywood celebrities are both stunning and famous throughout the world. Make sure you do not miss this chance to observe and learn from one of the masters in the field of portrait photography.

This is the central theme of the week with Greg Gorman, in which he shares his vision and his processes from both the intuitive and technical perspective. He emphasizes the importance of the art of communicating with one’s subject—a critical component of attaining a connected portrait that captures the essence of a person.

The workshop also focuses on studio and location lighting techniques. Greg demonstrates his use of strobe, tungsten, LED and natural light to enhance a portrait, and discusses the most effective use of lenses, camera angles, and appropriate lighting in a variety of situations and personalities. Working under Greg’s guidance in the studio and at some of Kristiansund’s most extraordinary locations, participants have daily opportunities to practice their newly acquired skills.

Greg Gorman's work documents that peculiar obsession of the 20th century celebrity. His photography is timeless and not confined to has-beens, hot properties, and wannabes. Each shot gives a picture of the infinite range of human nature. Every picture is also a testament to the individual character. “For me a photograph is most successful when it doesn’t answer all the questions,” says Gorman, “and leaves something to the imagination.”

For over three decades, Greg has continued to master the art of photography.  From personality portraits and advertising campaigns to magazine layouts and fine art work, he has developed and displayed a discriminating and unique style in his profession.

Greg attended the University of Kansas from 1967-69 with a major in photojournalism.  He completed his studies at the University of Southern California; graduating with a master of Fine Arts degree in cinematography in 1972.

This spring, Greg published, “Outside the Studio,” his tenth personal monograph.

The Nordic Light International Centre of Photography has invited me back to teach an exclusive class on portraiture. I have really enjoyed my past experiences in Kristiansund and find the people and the locations to be a very stimulating platform for an in depth study of all aspects of portraiture.
